A Classical Evening

The aim of the project presented was to create, using photoshop, an entirely new composition consisting of classical paintings and an image of yourself in order to change the context of the artworks used. 

Here the subjects all congregate within a train setting and re-evaluate the idea of ‘rush hour’.  In aiming for a kind of realism, I hope to draw the viewers’ attention to the various details and changes with the work. The message behind the work to convey what I believe these classical characters would be doing if placed within a modern setting. I have presented the subjects to be participating in mundane tasks like working the counter, casual dinner with friends and displays of public affection – all occurrences we find in the real world every day. I wanted to take away their ‘status’ of fame and transition into ordinary people; in hopes that the viewers are able to relate better to the subjects.
